Candy Cane Cream Cheese Brownies
My friends and I were doing a Secret Santa, and I had no clue what to get my person! My mind was blank! So I decided to bake something. Of course.
These are super super simple and fast, so you can make them the day you need them and it only takes about an hour! Which was great in my case!
I used the Ghirardelli brownie mix from Costco and again, they do not disappoint! On top of the brownies, is the cream cheese icing from the red velvet cake cookies. And on top of that, is crushed candy cane! See, easy peasy!
Speaking of crushed candy canes, I need some help. I've been using sandwich baggies to crush them in, but those always get holes in them from the wooden spoons I angrily smash against them and then candy cane dust goes everywhere. Any suggestions? I'm a wandering Israelite. No, that doesn't make sense. I'm a lost sheep. Hold on, I got to go brush up on my bible stories.
Recipe:
1 packet brownie mix
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup oil
1 egg
1/2 cup cream cheese
1/2 cup butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teapsoon vanilla
2 candy canes
Mix together brownie mix, water, oil and egg. Pour into a greased pan (I also lined mine with foil) and bake for 45-50 minutes at 325.
While they're baking, beat together cream cheese and butter. Add in powdered sugar and vanilla and beat until smooth.
Spread frosting on cooled brownies and sprinkle crushed candy canes on top.
