Pitting Cherries: Part 2

When I made my first post about cutting and pitting cherries, I thought that that was such a good way to pit them. And it is, don't get me wrong. But I've found that some recipes either call for whole cherries or just look better with them being whole. So with that being said, here is a new way to pit cherries. This method can be messy if you are not prepared, by the way, so wear a shirt you don't mind getting dirty or an apron.

First, get a cherry (without the stem), a chopstick, and a bowl or two.

Then, stick the chopstick in the place where the stem was. With the cherry in your hand, push down until you feel the pit, then push down some more. It will be kind of hard to do at first. If you make a hole all the way through without getting the pit out, don't worry. Just angle the chopstick is such a way that you can push the pit through the whole.

If you got the pit out without much trouble, you should have a hole on the other side that looks something like this. If yours doesn't look like this, no worries! Not all of mine came out this nice!
Now you have beautifully pitted cherries that you can use in anything from cherry pies to just eating!
