Colleen Ballinger Pizza Dough

Do you ever find recipes in unexpected places? I was watching Colleen Ballinger on YouTube the other day and she was making her favorite pizza dough recipe. So I wrote it down and I made it too! It reminds me of Papa John's pizza crust flavor and it's pretty good! I'll link the video here in case you want to watch too!

First, as with any yeast recipe, you have to bloom the yeast. Sprinkle in your yeast and sugar over warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Once the yeast is all mixed in, stir in your olive oil. Then add in flour and salt and stir until it comes together as a dough. It came together so quickly, I'm talking less than a minute from adding the flour to what it looks like here. Just make sure that you don't see any dry patches of flour and then you can cover in plastic wrap or a towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Once it's rested, it's ready to go! I used half of the dough for a pizza and the other half for garlic knots.

For the pizza, I sprinkled the dough with flour and rolled it out into a circle-ish shape on my baking pan with a little bit of cornmeal on the bottom. Then add whatever toppings you like! I did pepper, onion, and bacon.

In order to form the dough into a knot shape, roll out into a flat rectangle or circle. Cut into strips and then just make a loose knot. Tuck the ends underneath and set it on a lined baking sheet. For garlic knots, melt a tablespoon-ish of butter in a cup, then add in salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. I did not measure any of this but just the shaking that I did make it taste good. So mix all your seasonings into the butter then use a pastry brush to brush it on top of the dough.

I baked both my pizza and my knots at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. I think the pizza could have gone maybe a minute longer but if it looks brown and cooked, it's probably done.

Recipe (from Colleen Ballinger):

1 cup warm water

1 tbsp dry active yeast

1 tbsp sugar

1 tbsp olive oil

2 cups flour

1 tsp salt

1. Put warm water in a bowl and sprinkle yeast and sugar on top. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

2. Stir in olive oil. Stir in flour and salt until combined into a sticky dough.

3. Let rest for 30 minutes until risen.

4. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
