Cake Alert and a Frosting Lesson
Hello friends!
This is going to be a pretty short post, but I wanted to bring something to your attention.
Are you worried? You should be.
Because if you ever make a chocolate sheet cake that is not this one, you will be surely disappointed.
This is The. Best. Chocolate. Sheet. Cake. Ever. And yes, that is the name of Pioneer Woman's post on her blog, with a few added periods for emphasis, but it is also the only fitting name for this cake.
My friend made it for her birthday party and it was out. of. this. world. I couldn't believe how good it was!
(Oh, and Bakerella also made it and raved about it.)
And as we were eating, a question came up. Did this cake have a frosting, an icing, or a glaze?
Then we were wondering what the difference between frosting and icing actually is, and I had no clue. So here I am, to tell you what the difference between frosting and icing is.
From my research, I discerned that frosting is thicker and holds its shape better, ie buttercream frosting.
Icing is thinner and hardens when it cools, ie royal icing.
And glaze is very thin and the most translucent, ie on top of doughnuts.
So from that we can conclude that this cake has a chocolate glaze.
Yay knowledge!
